Every summer, in conjunction with our adult league, New Haven Volleyball, we host AVP America grass doubles and triples tournaments right here in New Haven. Every other weekend from late May to late August, we present an opportunity for the community to take advantage of the weather and the beautiful fields at East Shore Park for some outdoor volleyball. Saturdays are usually reserved for gender-specific doubles or triples (men's and women's), and Sundays are typically reserved for coed (men's height net) or reverse coed (women's height net, men attack from behind the 10 foot line) tournaments.
An AVP America membership is required ($50) to participate in all tournaments, but once registered, the membership lasts a full year and allows said member to register for any AVP America tournament in any state across the country. Please note that any athletes looking to play who are under 18 must be added to a free parent account in order to participate. Players under 18 will be unable to purchase a membership themselves. To purchase a membership, click here.
The cost of team registration for a New Haven Volleyball grass tournament varies based on the number of players, but is generally $40/player. At New Haven Juniors, we highly encourage athletes to play as many grass doubles tournaments as possible over the summer. It is a great way for players to work on their all-around game, as they have to do all of the skills to be successful on the grass court: serving, passing, setting, hitting, and even blocking. It also a great way to get into or stay in shape for the fall school season, as covering a 30x30 square with only one other partner means the cardio is unmatched!

All of our grass tournaments are held at East Shore Park, right off exit 50 on I-95. Take a right onto Woodward Ave., take a right into the first entrance of the park, and then follow all the way to the back parking lot by the water purification plant. There will be a field of nets set up. And yes! It is right by the water!
